GateLime Journal is a publication that can be read without an account. This notice applies to the website. Account, location, and payment data in the app will be described in the app’s own notice when that version is released in the stores.
Reading and on-site search
Viewing a page does not require a name or contact details. Search is performed on this site. The query appears in the address of the results page. Queries are not used to build a reader profile or for advertising.
Correspondence
The site has no contact form. The editorial desk and the press desk reply from the email addresses published on the contact page. Messages sent to those addresses are not stored in a database on this site and are not used for advertising.
Email is delivered through the recipient’s mail service. The addresses are not added to a mailing list and are not sold.
Cookies
The site may set a session cookie while serving a page. It is not used to track visitors across other websites. The site does not set advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or analytics cookies. Access to the editor uses a separate staff session, which is not set during ordinary reading.
Server logs
The hosting server may keep a technical record containing the IP address, browser, requested page, and time. These records are used for security and for resolving faults. They are not used to build a reader profile.
Fonts, stylesheets, and images
Typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts and the page stylesheet from jsDelivr. Opening a page causes the browser to request those services. Destination images are served from Unsplash. The text of the journal remains on GateLime.
Editorial use of artificial intelligence
Some guides, city pages, and blog posts are first prepared as a draft by a language model from a subject supplied by an editor. The draft is read and saved by an editor before publication. Visitors do not submit prompts while reading. Visitor correspondence is not sent to the model.
To produce the draft, the editor’s subject and names already published on the site are sent to OpenAI. The model does not receive a visitor’s name or email address from the journal. A draft is not a published page until an editor saves it. Images are selected and uploaded by the editors. The model does not place an image file on the site.
Application
Links to the App Store and Google Play leave this website for those stores. This notice does not cover account, location, or payment data inside the application.
Disclosure
Personal information is not sold and is not shared with advertisers. A profile is not required in order to read the journal.
